JL's Columbia SC Real Estate Blog: When was the Last Time You Washed a Rental Car?

When was the Last Time You Washed a Rental Car?

Columbia, SC Real Estate      I talk to a lot of people about the pride of  home ownership. I am obviously a firm believer in the concept. It never ceases to amaze me that throughout these discussions I still hear people claim that there is no difference in the pride you have for a home that you own and a house that you rent.

I like to ask these people a simple question. When was the last time you washed a rental car? Most people do not spend that much time making a rental car look nice, because quite frankly, it's not their car. There is no need to make it look pretty and then show it off to their friends and family.

There isn't as much pride in living in a place as there is in owning the place. That same type of pride is the reason you never hear anyone bragging about their nice new ride while washing a rental car.

Happy New Year JL-Hope you are doing well and I totally agree with this because unless you own it there isn't the same level of pride if you just rent.

That is an appropriate analogy and as a REALTOR® that primarily sells investment property I can tell you that when renters leave a home spic and span it is more the exception than the rule. The last rental property I resold for an investor needed a $300 cleaning.

Great Article!!! Very well written!! The analogy is very important- we are focusing on the pride of homeownership in 2015 on our social media- we hope it catches on!

It's really tough to take care of a rental car. It is a good article full of tips. It has been easy to find vehicles in rent.
