Finally a reason to celebrate the genius that is our Government!!!! I knew it was only a matter of time before they wore me down and managed to show that they truly get what is important to so many Americans. This time they have struck a nerve and are poised to get right to the heart of the matter that will put us as a nation back on track to reclaim our supremacy.
Just when I was ready to give up all hope on Congress after what I have seen from them in my lifetime, they have made a believer out of me and all our problems seem to be a breath away from under control. According to the news they are now planning on passing a bill that will not allow only college bowl game to use the title "National Championship" unless it results from a playoff. That's right, the U.S. Congress is poised to take down the BCS and ensure that college football has a playoff system rather than bowl games where some team always has the complaint that they were cheated by not being given a true shot at the title.
This story quickly reminded me of why I rarely watch the news anymore and why I really don't like Congress. With all the problems that are currently facing our nation, we have to take valuable time for our civil servants to stop doing something useful and get involved in college football. I mean we are only at war, in a recession, have a housing crisis, and a huge unemployment rate, but really all these things can wait. We need a college football playoff system.
Barring the fact that I wouldn't mind seeing a playoff system at some point, do we really need Congress involved? Find something better to do with your time! Try to actually solve and issue or two that will help the people who had to put you in office. Not since the Congressional hearings on steroid use in baseball have I thought more that Congress should just go ahead and give up. If this is the leadership we have, then we just have no right to complain about the shape the world is in. Try hard to fix your situation as an individual, because you are certainly not getting any help from those that represent you. Unless of course you are a TCU fan, because they may have been a little cheated by the BCS this year.

Well, I just started a Facebook group called Hissy Fit.
Sounds like you need to join and pitch one. I happen to agree with you. If you check my blogs, one of the recent ones included a picture taken on the senate floor (un-cap intended), shows our senators, worthless beings, playing Solitair and Facebook blogging during health care debate.
How useless can the get. I pray we have seen the lowest level, but, as a Columbia SC native, I think that is Naive.
Peace
JL - As much as I agree with the notion of having a playoff system in place for college football, this seems like an unnecessary diversion for Congress right now. I couldn't agree with you more on this one.
Why do I now have the urge to beat my head against a wall? I am clueless about sports. But with the U.S. economy being what it is right now, and with the many REAL problems that need to be addressed, why in the world is Congress putting one minute of thought into college sports? OMG! I really, really hate ALL politicians!
JL- I was a bit shellshocked watching the "news" today and hearing all about Tiger Woods and the great Senate debate over football! I couldn't agree with you more!
I'm with Lisa, I want to beat my head against a wall. I know it will feel better when I stop...that's until congress starts debating some other nonsense!
I too agree there are more important issues to deal with than sports right now. The media is also diverted by issues such as Tiger Woods and his ordeal when they should be focused on the additional troops that were ordered overseas by President Obama.
OOH, but it is so important. What wars? I had better start watching some news again. On second thought, I think I'll skip it. It only makes me mad!!!
Four new BPOs in one day!!! I think there is going to be another glut of housing soon. This weren't refis. They were foreclosures.
JL - It's like you took the thoughts right out of my head! Thanks for putting this insanity into words. Hear the collective head banging of millions of Americans!
Well, I for one will sleep a lot easier knowing that something is in place that will channel the events in the proper sequence.
JL ---- I couldn't agree with you more -- I had not heard about Congress being involved with football -- give me a break.

Happy Holidays
HA! Let's hold off on the IRAQ issue for a minute and work on this College BCS Fiasco we have going on. The BCS is really upsetting many Americans. YES WE CAN create a play-off system... ridiculous!
When you're right you're right.

JL - I think TCU got a bad deal as well. Glad to see Congress has priortized their activities. For a minute I thought we were getting ignored
Congress is just looking for something else to do as they have already screwed up everthing else.
Good feature. These guys and gals have nothing much to do since they feel they have come up with a cure all for the foreclosure crisis. N O T!
I say they all get down to work and come up with something that will really us these homeowners. And play games when they home from a hard days work.
Catching up on your posts JL! All good ones! This one is great. Congress needs to get busy trying to find solutions to real problems. College playoffs are college and university problems.
